Are there scholarship websites that are legit and worth checking out?

I'm trying to find scholarships to apply for, but there are just so many websites out there, and it's hard to know which ones are trustworthy. I want to make sure the scholarships I’m looking at are legit and worth my time. Does anyone have recommendations for reputable scholarship websites or resources that you've used successfully? It’d be awesome to hear how others have navigated this process and avoided scams.

You're absolutely right, it's crucial to ensure the scholarships you're putting your time into applying for are authentic, and it can certainly be daunting with the sheer amount available online. There are several websites that have a good reputation for being genuine and offering a wide variety of scholarships.

1. Fastweb: This site offers a massive database of scholarships and additionally includes internships and part-time job postings, which can be extra helpful depending on your needs.

2. Scholarships.com: With more than 3.7 million scholarships and grants in their database, it provides pretty robust options. It also helps to match you to scholarships that fit your profile and has additional advice on colleges and careers.

3. Chegg: Most well known for its textbook deals, Chegg also has an excellent scholarship search feature with approximately 25,000 scholarship listings.

Remember, it's critical to avoid any scholarship that asks for a fee to apply. Such scholarships are likely scams. Real scholarships are free to apply for and should never require payment. Additionally, remember to continually check the websites as new scholarships get added throughout the year!

Finally, remember that local scholarships are often less competitive than national one since the applicant pool is not as broad. Therefore, it can be beneficial to also check with your school's counseling office, community organizations, or local businesses in your area, as they may offer scholarships that you wouldn't find on these bigger databases. Good luck with your search!
