Foot Locker Student Athlete Scholarship: Worth Applying?

I've heard about the Foot Locker Student Athlete Scholarship and I was wondering if anyone has experience with it. I'm a high school junior participating in multiple sports and was considering applying when the time comes. How competitive is it and what kind of applicants are they usually looking for? Would love to hear from anyone who's applied before about their experience and any tips for making my application strong.

The Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program is a pretty reputable one, and I'd say it's certainly worth considering. As far as competitiveness goes, I'd say it's not easy, but the reward can be significant - $20,000 for 20 students, which is a pretty substantial assistance towards college costs.

In terms of what they are looking for, the primary criteria include not just your athletic abilities, but also your academic achievements and your community service impact. They particularly value applicants who exhibit great leadership skills, embody sportsmanship and teamwork, and show a strong commitment to their community. So, be ready to demonstrate these aspects along with your athletic achievements.

When crafting your application, I'd recommend really focusing on your experiences beyond just sports. Share your academic pursuits and achievements, your involvement in your community, and any leadership roles you may have held. Wherever possible, tie these back to your involvement in sports. Remember to provide concrete and detailed examples to show who you are as a whole - not just as an athlete, but as a student and a community member as well.
