Scholarships for fall 2025: Still time to apply?

I'm a rising senior, and I've been trying to get a head start on applying for college scholarships for next fall. However, things have been so hectic with school and extracurriculars that I'm worried I might be falling behind. Are there still scholarships I can apply for to help fund my fall 2025 semester? If you have any recommendations for where to find these opportunities or the kinds of scholarships that typically have later deadlines, I'd be super grateful!

Yes, there's time to apply for scholarships for the fall 2025 semester. While it's true that some scholarships have deadlines that come and go as early as the fall or winter before, there are many that offer deadlines in the late spring and early summer. Some even have multiple deadlines throughout the year. Do not limit yourself to nationwide scholarships either; consider local scholarships from community groups, nonprofits, or businesses in your area. Often, these competition pools are smaller, increasing your chances of being awarded.

For example, Appily (formerly known as Cappex) and other databases have scholarships that you can sort by deadline. This makes it easier to identify opportunities that you haven't missed out on. Always understand the scholarship requirements though. Some may require an essay, letters of recommendation, or other specific qualifications related to GPA, intended major, or community service involvement to name a few.

As you conduct your search, remember to prioritize quality of applications over quantity. Spend more time on applications for scholarships that you are uniquely qualified for rather than blasting out dozens of applications for scholarships that are likely much more competitive or don't match up with your experience and qualifications. Start with those that fit your profile and pay attention to details. Lastly, remember to avoid scholarship scams—you should not have to pay to apply for a scholarship.

So, in short, no need to worry! There are still plenty of scholarship opportunities available. You just have to put in the time and effort to locate and apply for them.
