Seeking information about astronomy scholarships

I'm really passionate about astronomy and considering studying it in college. I know that STEM fields often have specific scholarships available, but I'm not sure where to start looking for ones focused on astronomy. Have any other students found scholarships for this subject? Any advice on where to search or specific scholarships I should look into would be awesome. Thanks in advance for any help!

Sure thing, I'm happy to help guide you towards some astronomy-related scholarships! One place to start would be by reaching out to your prospective departments at the colleges you're considering. They might have some insight into scholarships they offer or those that they know former students have received. Here are a few general astronomy-themed scholarships to start with:

1. The "Catch a Break" Scholarship: This scholarship is for Minnesota residents attending public colleges in Minnesota and offers up to $11,000 per year for four years. It's not limited to astronomy students, but if you're from Minnesota and studying astronomy, it's worth looking into.

2. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships up to $15,000 each for undergraduate STEM majors. While this isn't exclusive to astronomy, their mission is to aid those devoted to innovation in science and technology fields.

3. The American Astronomical Society offers a range of grants and scholarships and fellowship opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students in astronomy and physics.

Also, as a side note: be sure to fill out the FAFSA to be considered for federal aid, and also search Appily for even more scholarship opportunities. They give you the ability to filter the search to better cater the results to your needs. Also, don't forget to apply for general science scholarships, as many of these will be open to astronomy students as well. Good luck in your search!
