What STEM scholarships should I apply for as a high school junior?

I'm really passionate about pursuing a degree in a STEM field, but I know college can be expensive. I've heard there are scholarships specifically for students who plan to study in these areas, but I'm not sure where to start my search. Can anyone recommend certain scholarships that could be a good fit for a high school junior like me? Also, any tips on making my application stand out would be awesome!

There are indeed many scholarships open to high school juniors who are interested in STEM disciplines. Here are a few that you may want to consider:

1. Regeneron Science Talent Search: Formerly known as Intel STS, this is one of the oldest high school science competitions, aimed at students who have completed a significant scientific research project. It's highly competitive but also very rewarding if you're selected as a finalist or semi-finalist.

2. Society for Science and the Public: They sponsor a variety of research-based STEM competitions for high school students, including Broadcom MASTERS for those in grades 6-8 and the Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) for high school students.

3. The DuPont Challenge: This is a science writing competition that recognizes outstanding essays on a provided scientific topic.

When it comes to making your application stand out, showcasing your passion for the field and demonstrating a deep understanding of your area of study can prove beneficial. Think about what makes your story unique and how you can tell that story in a compelling way.

Keep in mind that scholarship application reviews often look for well-rounded students. So, while having a strong focus in STEM is great, don't overlook the importance of demonstrating leadership, volunteering, and other extracurricular activities to showcase balanced interest and dedication.

Lastly, don't forget to use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation in your application. Attention to detail is imperative and serves as an indication of your seriousness about the scholarship.

Keep in mind, these are just a few options. There are plenty of STEM scholarships available, so I recommend doing a broad and in-depth search. Good luck on your scholarship hunt!
