What are some computer science scholarships I can apply for?

I plan to major in computer science when I go to college, and I know college can get pretty expensive. I've heard there are scholarships specifically for CS students, and I'm hoping I can get some financial help to ease the burden.

Does anyone know of some good scholarships for computer science majors? Are there any specific organizations or companies that sponsor these scholarships? I'd really appreciate some guidance or favorite picks from anyone who’s been in the same boat. Thank you!

Absolutely, there are various scholarships targeted towards students interested in computer science. Each has its unique eligibility requirements, so make sure to check out to see if you meet the criteria:

1. Microsoft Tuition Scholarship: Microsoft offers this partial tuition scholarship every year to students pursuing a degree in computer science or a related STEM field. The scholarship emphasizes student leadership and diversity.

2. Google's Generation Scholarship: This particular scholarship is targeted at groups underrepresented in the tech industry. It's worth up to $10,000 and is specifically for students pursuing computer science.

3. CodeChef's SnackDown Coding Competition: This is an innovative coding competition sponsored by CodeChef. It isn't a traditional scholarship, but the winners receive a cash prize that could go a long way in funding your education.

4. Palantir Future Scholarship: This is geared towards freshmen and sophomores majoring in computer science. It's a merit-based scholarship providing awards ranging from $1,500 to $7,000.

5. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing: This one is specific to women who are high school students and interested in pursuing computer science in college. It provides various levels of recognition based on the woman's computing-related aspirations.

This is by no means an exhaustive list! There are many scholarships out there, and I encourage you to leverage scholarship search tools, like Fastweb or Appily, to find ones that match your profile. Just remember to stay vigilant for scholarship scams - if a scholarship ever asks you to pay a fee to apply, it’s likely not legitimate. Good luck with your scholarship search!
