Are there scholarships specifically for Black women?

As a Black female high school junior planning to go to college, I'm looking for financial aid options that cater specifically to women like me. Does anyone know of any scholarships available specifically for Black women? I'd appreciate any advice on where to start looking or any personal experiences you could share. Thanks!

Absolutely, there are specific scholarships for Black women that you can take advantage of. They are designed to help level the playing field and ensure that students like you are given an equal opportunity to fund their education.

1. The Black Women's Educational Alliance: This organization offers scholarships to Black female high school seniors who shows potential for future success.

2. Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs: They conduct a National Scholarship program where scholarships are granted to high achieving female students of color.

3. The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ): They offer several scholarships annually to students interested in pursuing a career in journalism.

4. The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs: It offers the Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarship for African American women who are college sophomores or juniors majoring in journalism, economics, or a related field.

5. The United Negro College Fund (UNCF): While not exclusively for women, the largest provider of scholarships for African Americans has a very broad portfolio including many that are specifically for Black women.

6. The National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc: They offer the Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship annually for African American female high school seniors.

7. Black Girl 44 Scholarship: It was created by former Obama White House alum Deesha Dyer and provides funding to Black/African American women college students who have earned a Washington, D.C. internship that relates to policy, community engagement, community service, advocacy, global relations or politics.

When applying, remember to pay attention to the specific requirements of each scholarship, as they will all have different eligibility criteria. Good luck!
