Do Division III schools offer athletic scholarships?

I'm considering trying out for some D3 sports teams but am unsure about their scholarship opportunities. Do Division III schools offer athletic scholarships, or should I be focusing on academic or other types of financial aid instead?

While it's fantastic that you're considering participation in Division III sports, it's important to note that DIII schools do not offer athletic scholarships. This is a policy established by the NCAA, which governs collegiate athletics.

However, don't let this discourage you from pursuing DIII sports. Many students benefit greatly from the balance DIII athletics provides between sports and academics. What's more, these schools often emphasize the value of the full college experience, which includes equal focus on athletics and academics.

Instead of athletic scholarships, student-athletes at DIII schools often obtain financial aid through academic scholarships, need-based financial aid, and grants. Hence, your focus should indeed be on academic and other types of financial aid instead.

Remember to still communicate your athletic ability to your prospective schools in your application. Even though you won't be receiving a scholarship for it, colleges still value the dedication and leadership shown in student-athletes. Plus, participating in DIII sports can be a significant part of your overall college experience!
