Colleges at Hawaii: Which Schools Should I Check Out?

I'm interested in studying somewhere unique and thought Hawaii might be a great choice. Can anyone provide some info on colleges in Hawaii that offer strong environmental science programs?

Two of the popular universities in Hawaii known for their environmental science programs are the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Hawaii Pacific University.

The University of Hawaii at Manoa (UH Manoa) would be the initial university to research because it is the flagship institution in the University of Hawaii system. UH Manoa offers both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Environmental Studies, tailored toward conducting research in tropical environments. In these programs, you'll receive a broad education on various aspects of environmental science, such as chemistry, biology, economics, and statistics while focusing specifically on issues pertinent to the Pacific region.

Hawaii Pacific University (HPU), on the other hand, has a significant focus on Marine Biology as well as Environmental Science. It grants you the unique advantage of applying what you've learned directly to the field given the surrounding Pacific Ocean, fostering a hands-on learning experience.

In terms of campus culture and student life, both universities offer unique Hawaii experiences, but they differ significantly in size. UH Manoa is a much more significant institution serving more students and thus providing a more vibrant, bustling college community. In contrast, HPU is a smaller institution, allowing for more intimate class sizes and personalized instruction.

Both universities offer great vibrant and culturally rich experiences that are unique to Hawaii, along with strong environmental science programs. It would be beneficial to visit both campuses to see which vibe and academic approach better fits your personal interests and learning style.
