What's West Point Academy's summer break schedule like?

I'm trying to plan my summer break and was wondering when West Point Academy typically starts and ends their summer break. Are there specific dates to be aware of for 2024?

West Point Academy, also known as the U.S. Military Academy (USMA), tends to run on a different summer schedule than many traditional colleges due to the various military training activities that cadets undergo.

Typically, the academic year at West Point ends in late May with the graduation of the senior class. After graduation, newly rising sophomores, juniors, and senior cadets begin their respective summer training. First-year cadets, also known as Plebes, generally are involved in academic enrichment or other training.

In 2024, expect this trend to continue. While the official dates may not be available yet, West Point's graduation is usually scheduled for late May. Following a period of leave, cadets then begin summer training sessions, which extend through late July. Then there's another leave period before the fall semester begins in mid-August.

Please remember to check the official West Point calendar or consult with your Command Sergeant Major to get the most accurate details for 2024 when they become available. Keep in mind that as a cadet, your summer will be quite structured and dedicated to furthering your military training and leadership development. These experiences, though rigorous, are a significant part of the West Point education and are one of the things that distinguish West Point from other colleges.
