Can I work a civilian job without a degree?

I'm considering joining the workforce after high school and exploring some military civilian jobs, but I don't have a degree yet. Are there options available to me, or do most positions require a college degree?

There are several civilian jobs that you can pursue without a college degree, both within and outside the military. While some professions do require a college degree for entry-level positions, others value on-the-job training, certifications, or apprenticeships just as much, if not more.

For instance, in the military, you might look into civilian positions like administrative support, medical & emergency, transportation & logistics, or protective services. Outside the military, the tech industry has many opportunities for individuals without a degree. Roles such as web developer, software tester, or IT technician are often available to those who have gained adequate skills, whether through self-study, coding boot camps, or certifications. Similarly, trades like electrician, plumber, or HVAC technician can provide stable career options, usually following an apprenticeship period.

Remember, your options are not solely limited to employment. If college isn't the right fit for you at this time, you could also consider vocational/trade schools, entrepreneurial paths, or starting in an entry-level position and working your way up in a company. Each of these options has its benefits and challenges, so it's essential to do your research and consider which path aligns best with your career goals and interests.
