Behavioral Scientist Jobs in the Military?

I'm considering joining the military after high school and I'm interested in behavioral science. Does anyone know what kind of jobs are available in the military for someone with an interest in behavioral science?

Sure, there are certainly positions within the military that involve principles of behavioral science. One of the most well-known is being a Military Psychologist. These professionals study the behavior of service members and provide mental health services to active duty personnel, veterans, and their families.

Another potential job is working in Human Intelligence (HUMINT). This involves collecting information from people, typically through interviews or interrogations, considering human behavior and psychological principles.

Operational Psychologists are another option. They assist with personnel selection, leader development, and non-medical counseling. They often work with Special Operations Forces and intelligence units, further illustrating the importance and utilization of behavioral science in the military.

Those with interests and skills in behavioral science might also consider roles in public affairs or recruitment. These positions involve understanding and influencing behavior when communicating with the public or potential new recruits.

Bear in mind that many of these roles require further education beyond high school, usually at least a Bachelor's degree, but often a higher-level degree in the field. If you join the military right after high school, you might serve in a different role while pursuing your education part-time, potentially with military benefits helping to pay for school.
