Is the Naval Academy Summer Seminar worth it?

I've been thinking about applying to the Naval Academy's Summer Seminar. For those who've attended, what was your experience like? Does it give a good feel for life at the academy?

The Naval Academy Summer Seminar (NASS) is a highly respected program that gives students an idea of what life would be like attending the academy. While it won't directly influence your chances of being admitted to the academy, it could indirectly strengthen your application if you gain unique experiences or insights that you can reflect on in your essays.

It offers a rigorous, engaging, and vibrant experience. You'll participate in academic, athletic, and professional training alongside other highly motivated students, which often results in lifelong friendships. You'll get a taste of the military regimen, physical training, and the camaraderie that define the academy's atmosphere.

However, keep in mind that it's still a week-long program - it will give you an impression of what life at the academy could be like, but it won't capture the totality of the four-year experience there.

So, in deciding whether it's 'worth it,' consider your personal goals. If you're looking to better understand the academy and see if it's a good fit for you, it could be extremely valuable. Alternatively, if you're hoping it will significantly increase your odds of acceptance, remember that this isn't guaranteed. Consider these factors and decide what suits your needs best.
