Interested in Military Advertising Jobs

Hey, I'm considering joining the military and curious about the advertising jobs available there. Does anyone have experience or know what kind of roles are offered in this field within the military?

Sure, great question! Advertising and marketing opportunities do exist within the military. Several branches have units dedicated to promoting their branch and recruiting efforts, so you could potentially find work as part of a recruitment marketing team.

In the Army, for instance, there are Public Affairs Specialists (MOS 46Q) and Broadcast Specialists (MOS 46R) who are crucial to creating print and web-based publications, press releases, and social media content. They're essentially responsible for telling the Army's story to the public. These roles involve a lot of writing, editing, photography, and in the broadcast role, potentially radio and video production.

Similarly, the Air Force has a job role for Public Affairs officers (AFSC 35X), encompassing media relations, community engagement, internal information programs, and various communication strategies.

However, it's important to remember that these are not positions you're likely to walk into straight out of basic training. As with any specialized job in the military, certain requirements must be met, such as obtaining a secret clearance and passing a Public Affairs Qualification Course or other related training post-enlistment.

Contact your local recruiter for more in-depth information, and consider the qualifications and level of commitment involved in a military career. Remember, serving in the military is a significant commitment and differs greatly from civilian life. Good luck with your decision!
