What jobs are available at the Naval Academy?

I'm thinking about future career opportunities and wondering what types of jobs could be available at the Naval Academy after graduation. Are there roles for graduates directly within the academy itself, or is military service the main path?

Graduates from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) commission as officers in the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps. That being said, there's a breadth of specializations and job roles you can enter within these branches.

In the Navy, graduates could pursue roles such as Surface Warfare Officer, Submarine Officer, Special Warfare (SEAL) Officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer, Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer, and more.

In the Marine Corps, officers can enter roles like Ground Combat, Aviation, and Logistics. Just as with the Navy, Marine Corps careers also offer a broad range of fields, including infantry, armor, aviation, intelligence, and logistics.

As far as I know, graduates do not typically take roles within the Academy itself right after graduation. The primary purpose of attending the Naval Academy is to prepare for a military career, and all graduates have a minimum service obligation upon graduation, which typically lasts at least five years.

Roles within the Naval Academy, such as teaching or administration, are usually filled by experienced officers, civilian faculty, or staff, many of whom might have previous experience at the Academy or in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Bottom line is, military service in the Navy or Marine Corps is the main path following graduation from the Naval Academy, with a wide array of fields and specializations to consider.
