What are the Naval Academy summer programs like?

I'm looking into the summer programs at the Naval Academy and would like to know more about what they offer. Are they beneficial for students considering a career in the military? Any personal experiences or tips would be great!

The U.S. Naval Academy offers summer programs such as the Summer Seminar and the Summer STEM Program. These programs are indeed beneficial if you're interested in a military career, particularly if you're considering the Naval Academy for your future studies. Each program offers a unique way to understand what academic life and studies are like.

The Summer Seminar is aimed at rising high school seniors considering the Naval Academy. It's an amazing opportunity to experience life at Annapolis. Over six days, participants engage in academic and physical workshops and gain a sense of midshipman life through a variety of realistic aspects. You'll get a little taste of everything, from rigorous academics, physical training, and team-building activities, to Naval discipline and time management. The immersive experience gained here could prove to be an asset when applying to the academy.

The Summer STEM Program, on the other hand, is for rising 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. This week-long residential program is a great exploratory opportunity for those interested in subjects like engineering, architecture, and other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields. Besides academic sessions, you'll also participate in real-world application workshops and hands-on projects.

Tip for when you apply: Highlight both your academic achievements and leadership experiences in your application, as the Naval Academy values both of these qualities. It's also worth noting that these programs can be competitive, so applying as early as possible might increase your chances.
