What's the Naval Academy triathlon like?

I'm an avid triathlete and considering applying to the Naval Academy. Does anyone know what the triathlon scene is like there and if they have a strong team? Any info on how competitive it is?

The United States Naval Academy has a robust triathlon team, and many have found it to be a truly fulfilling and meaningful part of their academy experience. With practice typically involving several hours a day, five to six days a week, joining the team can be a serious commitment; however, it's a fantastic way to hone athletic skills, build camaraderie, and imbue oneself with qualities of discipline, leadership, and perseverance.

In terms of competition, the USNA triathlon team participates in various collegiate and open races throughout the season. The team competes in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Triathlon Conference (MACTC), which offers an excellent mix of competition to challenge athletes at every level. Additionally, the team is a regular contender at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship where they've seen success in past years.

Athletically, you will find a diverse mix of abilities, ranging from novice triathletes to highly experienced endurance athletes. The great thing about this level of diversity is that it fosters an environment where each participant can achieve their personal best. Many athletes come into the program with a heavy background in one discipline (typically swimming, considering the naval connection) but without substantial experience in the others, so don't feel like you need to be an expert in all three domains to make the team. Coaches work with athletes across all skill levels to improve their technique and stamina in swimming, cycling, and running.
