Exploring Environmental Studies at the US Naval Academy

Does anyone know what environmental studies or related programs are available at the US Naval Academy? I'm passionate about environmental science and wondering if their offerings align with my interests as I consider applying.

The U.S. Naval Academy does offer a major specifically in Oceanography, which could be a good fit if you're interested in studying the environment. The Oceanography major at the Naval Academy is interdisciplinary, combining elements of physics, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and marine biology to study the world's oceans. There's an emphasis on the role of oceans in the global environment, which includes study on topics like climate change, ocean circulation, and marine biodiversity.

Additionally, they offer a major in Ocean Engineering which involves the application of basic engineering principles to the analysis, design, and operation of marine vehicles and systems, as well as the prediction of the ocean environment and the response of the ocean to various inputs. This could also be of interest to you if you're keen on marrying engineering principles with the exploration of the environment.

Keep in mind that these programs are designed to be relevant to the scientific and technical challenges faced by the Navy and the Marine Corps. Your education in these fields would likely have a focal point on naval applications, but the comprehensive and interdisciplinary coursework should still provide a strong foundation for exploring broader environmental science concepts.
