Can you be deployed while attending the Naval Academy?

Is it possible to be called into deployment while I’m a student at the Naval Academy or are there measures in place to ensure cadets complete their education uninterrupted?

While attending the United States Naval Academy, you are considered both a military service member and a full-time student. However, your primary obligation during that time is to complete your education and training.

Deployment during your time at the Academy is very unlikely. This is because you're still in training and the key objective during this time is for cadets to gain the knowledge and skills they need to be leaders in the Navy or Marine Corps. Your military service in a deployed capacity generally would not begin until after your graduation and commissioning.

Any changes to this regimen would be exceptional, usually tied to a national emergency and considerably outside of the standard procedure. The mission of the Naval Academy is to prepare young men and women to become professional officers in the naval service, and part of that commitment includes allowing them to complete their education and training.

So while technically possible, being deployed while studying at the Naval Academy is not a situation that typically happens in practice.
