Can Canadians attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis?

As a Canadian student interested in military careers, I'm wondering if it's possible to attend the Naval Academy in the U.S. Are there partnerships or specific programs for Canadian applicants?

Canadian students can apply to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, but the process is different than for American applicants. There are a limited number of slots available each year for international students, including Canadians.

For foreign nationals, a nomination from their home country is required instead of the congressional nominations U.S. applicants typically seek. The Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) may endorse Canadian applicants. However, keep in mind that the number of accepted international students in each class at USNA is up to 60, with no more than 12 from any single country in one year.

If accepted, international students do not have a military obligation to the United States following graduation. Instead, they're encouraged to serve in their home country's military, and the expectation is set by the nominating country.

So, while it's relatively competitive given the quota for international applicants, candidacy is indeed possible. The next step would be to reach out to the DND or the USNA Admissions Office for specific instructions on the nomination and application process as a Canadian student.
