Job search assistance for military veterans available?

I'm a veteran getting ready to enter the civilian workforce. Can anyone suggest reliable resources or programs that assist military veterans in their job search? I want to ensure I utilize all the support that's out there.

Finding well-suited employment after serving in the military can indeed be a challenging task, but it's great you're planning.

One of the most comprehensive national resources for veterans transitioning into the civilian workforce is the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) of the U.S. Department of Labor. They offer a variety of resources, including career counseling, job search workshops, and one-on-one employment support for veterans. VETS also administers the "Jobs for Veterans State Grant Programs" which offers support to states in providing key services to veteran job-seekers.

You might also consider the American Corporate Partners (ACP) program, which connects veterans with corporate mentors in relevant industries. You would receive a year-long mentoring relationship, with guidance on everything from résumé building to networking in the civilian sector.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has a program called "Veterans' Employment Center," which provides a wide range of resources including a job-search tool, career exploration advice, and resources linking veterans with employers who are specifically seeking to hire veterans.

Remember that leveraging your military skills and experience is a valuable asset. Skills such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and working under pressure are highly desirable in the civilian workforce. Finally, don't forget to make use of any contacts or networks you may have, whether from your military service or otherwise. Networking can often prove to be one of the most effective ways to learn about job openings.

Good luck with your transition into the civilian workforce!
