Is the Naval Academy still test optional for admissions?

I'm planning to apply to the Naval Academy, and I'm not sure if I should focus more on my SAT scores or other parts of my application. Are they still test optional, or do they put a lot of weight on standardized tests?

The United States Naval Academy has not adopted a test-optional admissions policy. This means that SAT or ACT scores continue to be an important part of the admissions process. While they certainly consider other factors, such as extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and academic performance, standardized test scores are still used to evaluate your application.

However, remember that a strong application is more than just a high test score. High-level involvement in extracurriculars, especially those exemplifying leadership, fitness, and civic engagement, can make your application more compelling.

Ultimately, it's best to strive for balance in your application; work on securing strong SAT or ACT scores while also focusing on your GPA and engagement in extracurricular activities. But do keep in mind that performance on standardized tests remains a critical part of the Naval Academy's admissions process.
