A Military Paralegal Specialist is an integral part of the military's legal system. These individuals are primarily responsible for providing legal and administrative support in all areas of criminal law, family law, international law, civil and administrative law, contract law, and fiscal law.

On a day-to-day basis, a military paralegal specialist might perform a variety of tasks such as preparing legal documents, conducting research on regulations or proceedings, maintaining files, and assisting in court-martial or other military justice proceedings. They may also be involved in administrative, civil, or contract law proceedings, assisting judges, Judge Advocates, and unit commanders with a wide range of legal matters and judicial work.

The qualifications needed for this role in the military—U.S. Army, for example—typically include having a high school diploma or equivalent, completing the 10-week Basic Combat Training, and completing additional Advanced Individual Training for about 10 weeks. One would typically attend the Paralegal Warrior Training Course to learn the skills needed for the role.
