1. Law Enforcement: On a military base, MPs perform many of the same duties as civilian police officers. This can include enforcing laws, investigating crimes, making arrests, issuing violations, and patrolling the base to maintain security. They are trained in policing procedures, similar to a civilian police academy, but with a focus on military protocols.

2. Security Operations: MP officers often oversee security operations, including installation security, resource protection, and law enforcement on military installations. This could involve conducting security checks at entry points or providing security at special events.
