Coast Guard Academy Total Enrollment Numbers

Does anyone know how many students are typically enrolled each year at the Coast Guard Academy? Trying to wrap my head around the size and how it compares to other academies or colleges.

The United States Coast Guard Academy typically enrolls around 1,000 undergraduate students. This means that, on average, each incoming class is around 250 students.

To put this into perspective, the Coast Guard Academy is smaller than other federal service academies like the United States Naval Academy which has over 4,500 students or the United States Military Academy with around 4,000 students.

Most liberal arts colleges, a group that the Coast Guard Academy can compare favorably with due to its small size and broad-based curriculum, typically have a few thousand students – more than the Academy, but still small when compared to many public universities.

As you can see, the Coast Guard Academy offers a uniquely small, close-knit-environment compared to other service academies and many universities, and this is something to consider when thinking about whether it might be a good fit for you.
