Does the Coast Guard Academy recruit track athletes?

I'm a track and field athlete and wondering if the Coast Guard Academy recruits for their track team. How competitive is recruitment, and are there athletic scholarships available at the academy?

The Coast Guard Academy does indeed have a collegiate track and field team, and they actively recruit athletes. As for competitiveness, the level can vary widely, but in general, it's good to have a track record (no pun intended) of success at the high school level. That being said, they do value a strong academic record and leadership potential just as highly.

Now, about the athletic scholarships. All United States service academies, including the Coast Guard Academy, provide students with a full-ride scholarship covering all tuition, fees, room and board, and book costs, regardless of athletic status. These scholarships are in exchange for a commitment to serve in the military after graduation.

In essence, being an athlete won't provide additional financial benefits beyond the full scholarship that the academy already provides.
