What is Naval Academy acceptance day like?

I've heard a lot about Acceptance Day at the Naval Academy, and I'm curious about what happens on that day. Could anyone share their experience or insights into the traditions or activities that take place?

Acceptance Day, or "A-Day," at the United States Naval Academy is a significant event that marks the formal acceptance of plebes, or first-year students, into the Brigade of Midshipmen. It's an opportunity for the plebes to celebrate their successful completion of Plebe Summer, a rigorous seven-week training program which aims to evaluate and develop their physical, moral, and mental capabilities.

On Acceptance Day, plebes partake in a parade that is observed by their families, the staff, as well as the citizens of Annapolis. The parade signifies the official inclusion of the plebes into the Brigade. Another highlight of the day is when the plebes are allowed to reunite with their family and friends who have come to witness this momentous occasion, after being away from them since the start of Plebe Summer.

After the parade, the plebes are often given a brief liberty, their first since reporting to the Academy. This allows them a much-needed break and an opportunity to catch up with their families and friends. Do note, however, that these liberties typically come with certain limitation and guidelines (such as needing to stay within a specified distance from the Academy) to maintain discipline and structure.
