What activities are available at the Naval Academy today?

I'm curious about the kind of activities and opportunities available to students at the Naval Academy nowadays. Are there things like clubs, sports, or other unique offerings? Would love to hear from anyone who knows!

Definitely! The US Naval Academy (USNA) offers a wealth of activities to its students, or Midshipmen, as they are referred to.

In terms of athletic opportunities, there are 36 varsity sports and 12 club sports for you to participate in. This includes everything from baseball and basketball to sailing and wrestling. Intramural sports are also popular on campus, and they allow you to participate in a variety of activities while promoting a balance of physical fitness and cooperative team play.

On the other side of co-curricular activities, USNA has more than 90 academic, professional, and interest clubs. These clubs offer a chance to grow personally and professionally, and many are organizations recognized and sanctioned by the Academy. These student-run organizations range widely: there are groups such as the Aeronautics Club, Cyber Team, Cultural Foods Club, Foreign Language Clubs, Gospel Choir, and even a Scuba Club.

One particularly unique program is the Midshipman Action Group (MAG), which is the Naval Academy’s largest volunteer organization. The group contributes to the local community through a variety of volunteer services.

Lastly, USNA hosts an array of leadership programs that reflect the school's commitment to shaping future military and public service leaders. The Naval Academy Leadership Seminar, honor code training, and various fellowship opportunities are a few examples.

Keep in mind, at USNA, there's always an emphasis on balancing academic, military, and extra-curricular commitments. Enjoying your time, while developing as future Navy or Marine Corps officers is paramount in the culture at the Academy.
