The U.S. Naval Academy offers a robust variety of activities aside from its rigorous academic and military training program. The Academy sees these activities as an integral part of developing well-rounded future leaders.

When it comes to sports, for instance, the Naval Academy fields 33 varsity sports teams, part of the NCAA Division I, offering opportunities for both men and women in a wide range of sports such as football, sailing, gymnastics, wrestling, and more. Additionally, for those who may not play at a varsity level, there are club and intramural sports which serve to instill teamwork and resilience, while providing a break from the rigorous academic schedule.

In terms of clubs, there are over 100 different clubs covering a vast array of interests. These range from professional/academic clubs like the Foreign Affairs Conference and Cyber Team which can complement the academic experience, cultural clubs like the Asian-American Pacific-Island Club, service-based clubs like the STEM Outreach Club, and more unique groups like the Yacht Squadron for sailing enthusiasts.

Performing arts are embraced at the Naval Academy as well, with several musical ensembles, a drama club, a glee club, and even a Drum & Bugle Corps.
