How long does it take to receive Naval Academy admission decisions?

I've applied to the Naval Academy and I'm eagerly waiting for a response. Can anyone share how long it typically takes to receive admission decisions and if there's a general timeline to expect?

The admission process for the United States Naval Academy is a bit complex and can be lengthy, on account of nominations, application phases, and candidate fitness assessment. After your application has been submitted, it generally takes a few months to receive a decision. This timeline, however, can be variable depending upon individual factors such as the timing of the submission of your application and other documents.

The Naval Academy operates on rolling admissions, so decisions can start rolling out as early as January and continue through April. That said, many candidates don't receive their appointment (the term for accepted students to service academies) until March or April. This is often due to the fact that it takes time to receive a Congressional nomination, which is required for the Naval Academy.

I would also encourage you to keep in mind that the Naval Academy uses a "Whole Person" review, so they take into account all aspects of your application including your nomination, school transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, physical fitness assessment results, extracurricular activities, and leadership experience.

While waiting, it's normal to feel anxious, but rest assured that the wait is part of the process. If you need to reassure yourself, you can always contact the USNA admissions office directly with your questions and concerns too. Remember to stay patient and best of luck!
