Coast Guard Academy Application Checklist Tips?

I'm working on my application for the Coast Guard Academy and I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Does anyone have a checklist or any tips for completing it? Any advice would be super helpful as deadlines are coming up!

When applying to the United States Coast Guard Academy, your application should include the following components:

1. Pre-Candidate Questionnaire: This is the academy's version of a common application. It helps them to assess initial eligibility.

2. Interview: After submitting your Pre-Candidate Questionnaire, you may be contacted for an interview with an Admissions Officer. This is part of their holistic review process.

3. Academic Records: You'll need to submit your high school transcript and any college transcripts if you've earned credit elsewhere.

4. Standardized Test Scores: Register and sit for the SAT or ACT and submit your scores directly to the academy. While many schools are currently test optional, the USCGA is an exception and still requires these scores.

5. Fitness Assessment: The Candidate Fitness Assessment measures your strength, agility, speed, and endurance. You would need to perform and submit scores for specific exercises at a certified location.

6. Teacher Evaluations: You'll need to have three teacher evaluations. One each from a Math teacher, English teacher, and another one from a coach, guidance counselor, or employer.

7. Medical Exam: You'll need to pass a Department of Defense Medical Evaluation Review Board (DoDMERB) medical exam.

8. Personal Statements: These essays help the admissions officers learn more about your character and motivation for attending the USCGA.

In terms of tips, start early and keep organized! Each item on this checklist is equally important to your application.

Make sure you proofread everything you submit. Take advantage of resources such as teachers, counselors, and family members who can help you revise your personal statement.

And lastly, be authentic. The application process is a chance for you to showcase who you truly are and what you aspire to become. Good luck!
