How is the U.S. Coast Guard Academy experience?

I'm looking into the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and would love to hear about the experiences of current or former students. How rigorous is it, and what did you find most rewarding or challenging?

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is renowned for its rigorous academic and training programs, alongside its commitment to shaping leaders in maritime law enforcement and military service. As with any U.S. service academy, being a cadet at the Coast Guard Academy requires commitment, dedication, discipline, and a strong will to serve.

The academic program is intense, with majors ranging from Government to Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Cadets often remark on the heavy workload and the high academic standards they are expected to uphold. However, they are supported with plenty of resources, including access to supportive faculty and dedicated study sessions.

The physical training component is also demanding but rewarding. From swimming to land navigation and from sailing to emergency medical response, cadets learn various practical skills throughout their time at the Academy. It's challenging, but there's a real sense of achievement when you reach your fitness goals and pass your physical fitness assessments.
