US Coast Guard Academy and College Board Connections

I've come across information about the US Coast Guard Academy's involvement with the College Board. Can anyone explain what kind of relationship or interactions they have? I'm figuring out the application process and how they use standard testing scores.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, like many other educational institutions, does use standardized test scores as part of its admission process. These scores, such as the SAT or ACT, often come from the College Board, which administers the SAT test.

The Academy and the College Board do not have a unique relationship beyond this. The Coast Guard Academy, along with thousands of other colleges and universities, utilizes the College Board's services to avail standard testing protocols. When you apply to the Academy, you'll need to send your test scores directly through the College Board (or ACT, if you took that test) to the Academy. The Academy’s Code for the College Board SAT Exam is 5807.

One key thing to note about the U.S. Coast Guard Academy is that they adopt a holistic approach in evaluating the applicants’ records, and the scores from standardized tests like SAT and ACT are just one component of this evaluation. Your high school records, leadership experiences, athletic participation, community service, and other factors will also come into play during the evaluation of your application.

So while test scores matter, don't forget about the importance of showing your well-rounded accomplishments and abilities in your application. It's always recommended to check the Academy's official admissions website for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
