What STEM jobs does the military have?

I'm a bit of a STEM enthusiast and was wondering what kind of STEM job opportunities the military offers. Does anyone have info on the types of positions or fields available, like engineering or computer science?

The military does indeed have an extensive range of STEM opportunities, and they span across a multitude of fields, including but not limited to engineering, computer science, life sciences, and physical sciences.

Engineering roles are prevalent in the military, including jobs like Civil Engineering Officers who oversee construction and facility management, Combat Engineers involved in the construction of fortifications and roadways, and Aeronautical Engineers who work on designing and maintaining aircraft. There are also specialized roles like biomedical engineers in the military focused on creating and improving medical equipment.

In computer science, the positions can range from Cyber Operations Officers, who focus on protecting and defending the military's cyber infrastructure from threats, to Software Development & Network Management, involving coding and maintaining the military's vast digital communication networks.

In the realm of the physical sciences, there are roles like Meteorological and Oceanographic Officers who analyze weather conditions and oceanographic operations, as well as Chemists/Biochemists who work to develop and improve upon things like protective clothing materials or the production of alternate energy sources.

Life Science opportunities also exist, from research positions in military labs to roles like Clinical Laboratory Officers or Environmental Science/Engineering Officers who study the effects of environmental factors on operations and soldiers' health. These roles can involve work in biology, chemistry, physics, and sometimes a blend of them all.

Keep in mind, the specific roles can vary across the different branches of the military (Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force) so you might want to research specific branches for more in-depth information.
