How rigorous is the Naval Academy exercise routine?

I'm thinking about aiming for the Naval Academy, but I'm not sure how tough the exercise routine is. Can someone explain what a typical fitness regime looks like? Is it similar to other military branches or more specialized?

The fitness routine at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) is rigorous and designed to build both physical strength and endurance. It's important to note that military academies aim to prepare future military officers physically, academically, and morally for their careers, so physical training is a key component of the Academy experience.

All midshipmen at the Naval Academy are required to participate in some form of physical activity each day. This could include sports, intramural activities, or regimented physical training. Part of your fitness regime will also include the Physical Readiness Test (PRT), which is administered each semester. The PRT includes push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5-mile run, with the goal to meet or exceed the score based on gender and age group standards.

Naval Academy midshipmen are also expected, regardless of their major, to complete courses in swimming, boxing, wrestling, and martial arts to not only enhance physical fitness, but also to promote the development of leadership and teamwork skills.
