How does the Naval Academy freshman orientation work?

On I-Day, freshmen, known as Plebes, receive their initial issue of uniforms, take the Oath of Office, and bid farewell to their families. The day culminates with a ceremony after which Plebes are fully engaged with their training. Plebe Summer, which is approximately 6 weeks long, is an arduous, activity-filled indoctrination period meant to transition civilians into Midshipmen, the term for students at the Naval Academy.
