What's the GPA requirement for acceptance at the Naval Academy?

I'm a high school junior interested in applying to the Naval Academy and I'm trying to figure out what GPA I should aim for. Does anyone know what the typical GPA requirement or range is for admissions?

The United States Naval Academy is one of the most competitive institutions in the country, and your GPA plays a key role in admission considerations. While the Naval Academy does not publicly release a specific GPA cut-off or requirement, students who gain admission typically have a high school GPA of around 3.66 or above. However, this is an average and the range can vary depending on the applicant pool each year.

It's worth keeping in mind that the Naval Academy uses a holistic review process, so while your GPA is definitely important, they will also consider the rigor of your coursework, leadership roles, athletic activities, community involvement, as well as character and fitness for military service. Additionally, you'll need a nomination from a congressional representative, senator, or the Vice President of the United States.

To boost your chances of admission, it can be helpful to take a rigorous course load with APs or honors, if available at your school, and maintain stellar grades in these courses, showcasing your ability to handle college-level work. Invest in leadership roles, aim to excel athletically, and look for opportunities that demonstrate your service to others.

This is a highly competitive process, so worry less about hitting an exact GPA and more about showcasing your holistic profile and demonstrating the qualities the Naval Academy values.
