How are performing arts at the Naval Academy?

I'm really into performing arts and considering applying to the Naval Academy. Does anyone know what kind of opportunities are available there? I'm curious if I can continue my passion while pursuing a military career.

Absolutely, it's entirely possible to continue your passion for the performing arts while attending the United States Naval Academy (USNA). The academy offers a variety of performance-based activities, from drama and musical theater to dance and music. They've got a great Drama Club and Musical Theatre Club, which both put on shows during the academic year. There's also the Masqueraders, USNA's oldest extracurricular activity, which puts on a fall drama production and a staged reading in the spring.

There are also opportunities in music. The USNA Glee Club is highly regarded and travels across the country performing in a variety of venues. If you play an instrument, you might consider the Drum and Bugle Corps or the Naval Academy Band.

The academy also offers courses in music and drama, which could allow you to deepen your knowledge and skills in these areas. So even though the primary focus of your education at USNA will be on military and academic excellence, the academy is supportive of its midshipmen pursuing their individual passions alongside their studies.

Just keep in mind that the military and academic commitments come first, and make sure to manage your time efficiently. Many students have found ways to balance it all and have greatly enriched their academy experience.
