What is the Naval Academy Prep Program?

I'm considering going into the military and heard about the Naval Academy Prep Program. Can anyone explain what it's all about and how it prepares students for the Naval Academy itself? Any personal experiences would be appreciated!

The Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) is a one-year college preparatory program located in Rhode Island that's designed to prepare students for the academic, physical, and professional rigors of the United States Naval Academy. NAPS aims to ensure that midshipmen candidates are ready for the Naval Academy's academic intensity, physical challenges, and austere lifestyle.

While attending NAPS, students are enlisted into the Navy as Midshipman Candidates (MCs) and receive monthly military pay. The curriculum is quite rigorous, consisting of courses in mathematics, chemistry, physics, English, and naval science.
