At what age can you apply to Naval Academy Prep School?

I'm curious about the age requirements for the Naval Academy Prep School. What is the minimum and maximum age for applicants? Also, is there any flexibility with these age limits?

If you're interested in the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS), the age eligibility criteria are between 17 and 23 years of age by July 1 of the year you would begin at the U.S. Naval Academy (the following year after attending NAPS). So, in other words, to enter NAPS, you should fall into this range one year prior.

There does not seem to be a lot of flexibility in terms of these age limits as these are typically set by federal law. Exceptions are rare, and when they do occur, they usually involve a special nomination by a member of Congress for candidates of exceptional merit. It's always a good idea to confirm these details by directly checking with NAPS, as they would have the most current information.

As for your next steps, if you meet the age criteria, you'll also need to secure a nomination, typically from a member of Congress, and pass a full medical exam as part of the process. The selection process for NAPS is competitive, so you need to ensure all aspects of your application including academics, extracurricular activities, leadership involvement, and physical fitness profiles are strong. Good luck!
