Does anyone have info about Rickover Naval Academy's drill team?

I'm curious about the drill team at Rickover Naval Academy in Chicago. I'm really into discipline and teamwork, and I think this might be a great fit for me. Does anyone know what the drill team experience is like?

The drill team at Rickover Naval Academy (RNA) provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in discipline, teamwork, and military skills. The team members participate in precision military drill routines involving the synchronized, often complex, spinning, tossing, and catching of drill rifles. They also have formation marching routines that can range from very basic to highly complex.

While the team might seem intimidating at first, many students quickly grow accustomed to the precision and attention to detail required. Teamwork is a significant aspect because a drill routine flows smoothly only when every member performs their part correctly and in sync with the others. So, working closely with your teammates, you can expect to form tight-knit relationships and improve your communication skills.

Beyond the practical and interpersonal skills, being part of the drill team also instills discipline and fosters personal growth. You'll likely see a boost in your self-confidence, attention span, responsiveness, and respect for rules and procedures.

The exact experience can vary based on your role within the team, the coach's style, and the specific routines you work on, but generally, you can expect it to be challenging, rewarding, and a great chance to build character and leadership skills.

Would recommend reaching out to current RNA students or alumni for a more personal perspective. Many schools also have admissions counselors or student ambassador programs that might be able to connect you with current members or recent graduates of the drill team, so you can get first-hand insights. I wish you the best as you consider this opportunity!
