I'm currently taking some college courses through a CCP program and was curious if the Naval Academy accepts these credits. It would be great if some of my credits could transfer over and lighten my course load once I'm hopefully in!
The United States Naval Academy does recognize some credits from college courses but it depends a lot on the course and the content studied. It is important to note that if credits are accepted, they will not count towards the 120 credits needed to graduate from the Naval Academy, rather they may exempt you from some courses. Each department at the Naval Academy evaluates transfer credits on a case-by-case basis, primarily through a course-by-course and credit-by-credit evaluation of the college transcript and examination of the course content. Depending on the material, they will decide whether to grant advanced standing, credit, or a waiver for a particular course. You should be prepared, however, that most Midshipmen are required to take the major core courses, regardless of their prior coursework. It might be a good idea to contact the Admissions Office directly for more specifics and guidance on your situation. They can provide clearer guidance on how your specific CCP coursework might translate.
