Course Descriptions at the United States Naval Academy

Does anyone know where I can find detailed course descriptions for the United States Naval Academy? I'm interested in seeing what classes I'll be taking if I get in. Any advice would be awesome!

You can find detailed course descriptions for the United States Naval Academy on the institution’s official website. Remember, the Naval Academy has a core curriculum that all midshipmen are required to complete, comprised of courses in engineering, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and physical education.

Head over to the "Academics" section of the website and you'll find a section called "Majors and Courses". Here, you'll find a list of all available majors, each with a collection of course descriptions. Click on the major that interests you, and you'll be re-directed to a page with more detailed information, including descriptions of classes in that major.

Do keep in mind that, as a service academy, the United States Naval Academy also has unique requirements including seamanship and navigation courses on top of the traditional College-level coursework. Balancing this workload with military training is something many students say they found challenging, but also rewarding.

Take your time to carefully read through these descriptions and think about how they align with your academic and career goals. This will prove to be highly beneficial both for your application process and for your potential life at the academy.

But please be aware that there could be changes to the courses depending on the academy's changing requirements and updates. The curriculum is reviewed and revised periodically to keep up with current developments and requirements in the field. Thus, while the descriptions will give you a general idea of the curriculum, don't count on the details as set in stone.

I hope this helps and I wish you the very best in your application process and potential studies at the United States Naval Academy!
