Differences between the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar and Summer Session?

I'm trying to understand the difference between the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar and the Summer Session. Are they the same thing or do they offer different experiences? Any insights would be appreciated!

While the Summer Seminar and Summer Session offered by the United States Naval Academy may sound similar, they're quite different in terms of their goals, target audiences, and programming.

The Summer Seminar is a short, highly competitive program intended primarily for prospective applicants to the Naval Academy, typically high school students going into their senior year. It's designed to provide a taste of what life and academics at the Naval Academy would be like for students considering applying. During this program, students attend academic workshops, participate in physical training activities, and experience a host of other aspects of life as a midshipman.

On the other hand, the Summer Session is aimed at midshipmen who are already enrolled in the Naval Academy. The purpose of the Summer Session is to provide an opportunity for midshipmen to retake classes, improve their grades, or take additional classes to lighten their load during the academic year. It's essentially an extended part of the academic year, as opposed to a standalone program. Unlike the Summer Seminar, the Summer Session is not designed for prospective Naval Academy students.

So, in short, they serve different purposes: Summer Seminar is a preview program for prospective students, while Summer Session provides academic support for current students.
