I've heard that practicing for the SAT can earn credits towards College Board Opportunity Scholarships. How does this work exactly, and what counts as 'practice' in this context? Does it have to be online, or can paper practice count too?
The College Board Opportunity Scholarships reward students for completing specific activities that guide them in their journey to college. Among these activities is practicing for the SAT using the official SAT practice on Khan Academy.
To earn a chance for this scholarship, you need to link your College Board and Khan Academy accounts. Then, complete 6 hours of SAT practice on Khan Academy across multiple days over a specified period of time. Your practice time is logged automatically as long as you're practicing through the SAT practice on Khan Academy online. Unfortunately, traditional paper practice cannot be logged and is not counted towards this scholarship.
It's important to note that while completing these activities will make you eligible for Opportunity Scholarships, it does not guarantee you'll receive one. Winners are chosen through a monthly drawing among eligible students.
Remember to keep track of the deadlines for each step of the process too. They're usually clearly explained on the College Board's Opportunities Scholarships website. Also, this scheme is only available for juniors and seniors in high school and U.S. citizens or residents attending high school in the U.S., U.S. territories and commonwealths, or Department of Defense Education Activity schools.
