Merit scholarships for international students at the College of Wooster?

I'm interested in the College of Wooster and was wondering about the merit scholarships available for international students. Do they offer substantial grants, and what GPA or test scores would be expected?

The College of Wooster does indeed offer a variety of merit scholarships for international students. The scholarships range in value, with the most substantial being the Trustee Scholarship that offers an award of $37,000 per year. Their scholarships aren't limited to this top-tier award, though. Wooster also offers Dean's Scholarships, President's Scholarships, and the Scot Scholarship.

While the exact criteria may vary, a successful applicant typically demonstrates significant academic achievement. Although the college doesn't specify minimum GPA or test scores, you can get a sense of the applicant profile by looking at the school's averages. For the last admitted class, the median high school GPA was around 3.69 on a 4.0 scale. Keep in mind this is the median, and the full range of accepted GPAs will fall both above and below this number.

Now, because Wooster is still test-optional for Fall 2025, you can apply without submitting standardized test scores like SAT or ACT. If you do choose to submit scores though, the middle 50% SAT scores (CR + M) for admitted students last year were between 1250 and 1450. For the ACT, the middle 50% was between 27 and 32.

Remember, merit scholarships are based primarily on academic achievements, but colleges like Wooster also value leadership, extracurricular involvement, and character qualities. In addition to solid academic performance, showcasing your unique strengths, experiences, or talents can strengthen your scholarship application. It's beneficial to write compelling application essays and provide supportive recommendation letters to fully highlight your credentials. Good luck with your applications, and I hope this information was helpful!
