Finding Scholarships for PNG Students

I'm from Papua New Guinea and hoping to study in the US. Does anyone know about scholarships that specifically support PNG students? It would be really helpful to know where to start looking or any organizations that might help.

There are indeed several organizations and scholarship programs that specifically cater to international students, including those from Papua New Guinea.

One such organization is the East-West Center. It's based in Hawaii, and it offers scholarships and study grants to students from the Asia-Pacific region, including Papua New Guinea, who wish to pursue their studies in the U.S.

Another program worth considering is the United States–South Pacific Scholarship Program (USSP), which provides opportunities for undergraduates and graduates from South Pacific nations, such as Papua New Guinea, to pursue their studies in the U.S. Do remember, the program has specific eligibility criteria, so make sure to review them carefully.

While not exclusive for PNG students, the Rotary Peace Fellowship is another scholarship that aims at promoting peace by educating students from diverse regions. The fellowship provides fully-funded scholarships for students to study Peace and Conflict Resolution.

Check the websites of the colleges you're interested in, too. U.S. Universities often have financial aid options available for international students, and contacting the financial aid office or an international student advisor would be an excellent idea.

Always remember to be cautious and check the credibility of the programs and organizations you come across. Be aware that you should never have to pay to apply for a scholarship.

This can seem like a daunting process, but keep at it, and best of luck!
