Interpreting my TOEFL Score

Hey everyone! I just got my TOEFL score and I'm not sure how to interpret it. How do I know if it's good enough for my target schools or if it will hurt my chances of getting in? Any feedback would be super helpful!

Hi there! Congrats on completing your TOEFL exam. Interpreting your TOEFL score is quite straightforward. The score ranges from 0 to 120, with each of the four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing) scored between 0 to 30. A higher score typically indicates better English language proficiency.

To find out whether your TOEFL score is good enough for your target schools, start by checking each school's website for their minimum TOEFL requirements. Most institutions have a minimum score, usually between 80 and 100, depending on the selectivity of the school. If your score meets or exceeds that threshold, you should be in good shape.

Keep in mind that meeting the minimum requirement doesn't guarantee admission, as schools consider a variety of factors in your application. That being said, if your score is well above the minimum, it's less likely to negatively impact your chances. If your score is on the lower end or below the minimum, I would recommend looking into additional ways to demonstrate your English proficiency, such as participating in English-speaking clubs or getting a strong letter of recommendation from an English teacher.

Best of luck in your college applications process!
