What is the STEM program at the Naval Academy?

I'm interested in STEM fields and heard the Naval Academy has a specific STEM program. Does anyone know what this program includes and how beneficial it might be for someone pursuing a future in science or engineering?

The United States Naval Academy (USNA) offers an outstanding education in STEM fields. Those who pursue these disciplines can major in a variety of subjects, such as Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and much more. In essence, the Naval Academy prepares future officers in disciplines that are integral to the mission of the Navy and Marine Corps.

Beyond the formal curriculum, the Naval Academy has a Summer STEM Program that is designed for rising 9th - 11th graders to stimulate their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This is a hands-on, innovative, and project-based program that provides a fun, challenging introduction to these subjects. Students work with faculty and midshipmen to explore relevant real-world problems in fields like cyber security, energy production, or robotics.

The primary advantage of the Naval Academy's STEM programs is the integrated approach toward learning. The academy fosters a holistic approach to education, with not just academic, but also physical and ethical development of the students. Moreover, midshipmen have access to state-of-the-art labs, lower student-to-faculty ratios, and opportunities to work on research projects directly with faculty.

Post graduation, there are ample opportunities for graduates in Naval Architecture, Nuclear Propulsion, Communication Systems, Weaponry design and maintenance, etc, across the Navy and Marine Corps.

Students who are interested in a career in the Navy or Marine Corps and have a strong inclination towards STEM fields, definitely stand to benefit greatly from the Naval Academy's programs.
