Are there scholarships for students living with ADHD?

I have ADHD and am starting to think about college costs. Are there any scholarships specifically for students with ADHD that could help me with tuition and other expenses?

There certainly are scholarships for students diagnosed with ADHD. One of them is the Michael Yasick ADHD Scholarship by Shire. This is awarded to individuals who are pursuing higher education, including two-year and four-year colleges, vocational programs, or graduate schools.

Another scholarship is the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship from the National Center for Learning Disabilities. It awards scholarships to high school seniors with documented learning disabilities (LD) and/or ADHD who are pursuing an associate's degree, vocational or technical training program.

While these are specifically aimed at students with ADHD, don't limit yourself to just them. Remember that many scholarships look at factors beyond just medical conditions, such as academic achievement, community service, leadership, and extracurricular activities. This means that you're also eligible to apply for general scholarships that aren't tailored specifically towards students with ADHD.

It's also worth investigating if any local community organizations or groups offer scholarships to students with ADHD. Some states, counties, and cities offer scholarships for local students with specific characteristics or interests, and ADHD might be one of them. Be sure to contact your high school guidance counselor for a list of local scholarships available to you.

Remember, every bit of funding helps. Start your scholarship search early, stay organized, and apply to as many scholarships as you're eligible for to increase your chances of success. Good luck with your journey!
